SC resents construction of cinema on Islamic Centre’s land

The Supreme Court (SC) on Thursday expressed resentment over constructing of a cinema on the land of Islamic Center in Karachi.

A three-member bench headed by Chief Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali heard the suo motu case. Justice Azmat Saeed expressed anger over establishing a cinema house on the land reserved for Islamic Center and taunted the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC). The CJ asked that why the authorities were not taking any action in this regard. The Sindh government told the court that the Islamic Center was under the KMC’s ownership and according to an agreement the land had been given to a drama company on lease. Subsequently, the court adjourned the case till next week.
