The Punjab Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) late on Wednesday claimed they had killed at least eight suspected terrorists, including the founder of global terror outfit al Qaeda in Pakistan and the mastermind of the terror attack at Rawalpindi’s Preedy Lane, in a shootout in Multan.

According to CTD sources, the security personnel seized a large number of suicide jackets and explosive material from the possession of the killed suspects. A huge cache of weapons and ammunition was also recovered from the suspects’ custody.

The sources said that the raid on the suspected terrorists was carried out on information about a meeting of al Qaeda leaders in Pakistan.

Earlier on Tuesday night, the CTD had killed four suspected terrorists in an encounter near Gujranwala.

According to CTD sources, the suspected terrorists were on their way to Lahore from Sialkot to carry out terrorist attacks in the provincial capital.
