The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has sought reply from the Pakistan Freedom Party (PFP) on using eagle as the electoral symbol in a miscellaneous petition filed in defamation of Rs 750 million by the All-Pakistan Muslim League (APML).

A single bench of the IHC, headed by Justice Mohsin Akhter Kiyani, conducted the hearing of the case.

Syed Wasitul Hassan Shah, the counsel for the APML, appeared before the court and filed the miscellaneous petition, saying that the court had announced its verdict without listening to their arguments.

He argued that “we will pursue the case on behalf of APML and former President General (Retd) Pervez Musharraf and requested the court to hear his stance”.

Later, the court issued a notice to the head of PFP Sardar Naseer Ahmed and sought response by June 2, 2016.

It may be mentioned that in a previous hearing, the court had ordered to allot the electoral symbol to the PFP and directed the petitioner to submit reply with evidences before the registrar of the IHC.

It is worth mentioning that the PFP had approached the court on grounds that the APML was using their electoral symbol “eagle” in the election which was against the law.
