At times, when the deities deem right, when the Valkyries choose their prey, the stars align and a politician on TV is given an opportunity to deliver a laser-guided precision attack on another politician on a TV talk show.

Don’t confuse this with the regular, garden-variety barbs that the politicos exchange with each other. The ones I am talking about are, to use sports analogies, the home-runs (baseball), the knock-outs (boxing), the che-che-paanch (Luddo).

We saw one of those the other day where the PTI’s Shah Farman got an opportunity to sock-it-in-the-gut when the League’s Marvi Memon started asking him, on Javed Chaudhry’s show, to name even one rally when his leader Imran Khan had used parliamentary language.

I can name one, replied Shah Farman. The one which you had attended and had raised slogans for Imran Khan.

Perhaps given her history with the party, she knew this would keep popping up every now and then, so she seemed to be prepared for it. God has saved me from this party, she replied.

And now, since this is the age of the internet, and candid posterity does not forget, a clip below (online readers only) of that fateful rally that Ms Memon has come to regret. Her voice, an acquired taste even at the best of times, was particularly shrill that fateful day in Hayatabad.

As they say on the internet: lolz.
