The court on Saturday reserved the decision on petition filed by family of Abdul Rasheed Ghazi against former president Gen (r) Pervez Musharraf, declaring Musharaff as an ‘absconder’ in murder case.

Additional Session Judge Pervez-ul-Qadir Memon heard the plea against Musharraf and reserved the decision till May 17.

During the hearing, Musharraf’s guarantors Nazeer Ahmed and Jan Muhammad appeared before the judge and submitted their replies on show-cause notices.

Police also submitted a report regarding Musharraf’s arrest warrant, stating that officials went to Islamabad farm house and Karachi residence of the accused but couldn’t find him there.

The report further states that Pervez Musharraf has left the country.

Meanwhile, plaintiff’s lawyers appealed the court to declare Musharraf an ‘absconder’.

Non-bailable warrant was issued against the former president in February in connection with the murder case of Lal Masjid cleric Abdul Rashid Ghazi.

The cleric‘s family filed a case in 2013 against Musharraf over his alleged involvement in the killing of Rashid during a 2007 operation when military commandos stormed the mosque.
