Robbers take away one kg gold, Rs 2m cash

FAISALABAD – A gang of 14 dacoits attacked a house in a Chiniot village and took away one kilogram of gold ornaments worth Rs 4.5 million and Rs two million. Reportedly, the group entered the house of Jaffar Ali Kamoka in Chak No 101 Monian Wala in Chiniot and took the whole family hostage at gunpoint. In their bid to find out valuables, they severely tortured the housewife, Feroza Bibi, with rifle butts and tied the male members, Nasir Ali and Zafar Abbas. Then they collected the gold ornaments and Rs 20 million and escaped.
POLICE FAIL TO RECOVER MISSING DRIVER, VEHICLE: The disappearance of a driver along with a land cruiser is still a mystery as the police are clueless to the incident even after a lapse of six days. Reportedly, Amjad Ali, a driver of a textile mills in Khurarrianwala, dropped his boss at the factory and disappeared six days ago while coming back to Faisalabad.
The complainant Syed Mahmood, admin manager of the textile mills, reported the matter to Khurarrianwala police that are still unable to solve the mystery.
The missing driver Amjad Ali’s family said that police investigation was quite unsatisfactory and the employers had not taken them into confidence since the incident. Amjad Ali’s sister has appealed to the regional police officer (RPO) to intervene and track down his missing brother.
COP HIT BY DACOITS’ CAR DIES IN HOSPITAL: A police officer who was seriously injured after being hit by a vehicle of fleeing dacoits 23 days back died in the Allied Hospital. Reportedly, Pull Dingroo Police Post in charge Sub Inspector Rana Zulfiqar Ali ambushed the dacoit gang outside Chak No 2 JB on March 20 to arrest the wanted criminals. He was run over by the dacoits’ car when he waved them to stop for identification.
The injured policeman suffered head injuries, ribs’ fracture and other multiple injuries. He was taken to the Allied Hospital where he died after 23 days. The deceased was buried in his native village Chak No 201-RB. Earlier, his funeral, held at the Faisalabad Police Lines, was attended by District Coordination Officer (DCO) Nasim Sadiq, Regional Police Officer (RPO) Aftab Ahmed Cheema, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Operation Dr Usman Anwar and other senior officers. The deceased was the brother-in-law of Gulberg SHO Rana Omar Daraz Khan while the police are hunting for proclaimed absconder Iftikhar Pathan and his gang that crushed the deceased to escape arrest.
JI to change country’s political landscape, SAYS Randhawa: The mass-contact campaign of Jamaat-e-Islami will pay the way for an Islamic revolution as only honest and competent leadership can change the political landscape of Pakistan, said JI Faisalabad Amir Azeem Ahmed Randhawa on Thursday. Addressing the party workers of Jinnah Town as a part of JI’s mass-contact campaign, he said Jamaat-e-Islami would pull the country out of economic and political crises. He warned that those who wished to prolong their rule at the expense of national sovereignty could never claim allegiance to Pakistan.
“We have a mission to convince the masses that before getting rid of unemployment, price hikes and corruption, they will have to oust the rulers,, he said. Randhawa said the JI leaders had served as parliamentarians a number of times but they had no stigma of corruption or misuse of authority. He claimed that the Jamaat would bring the change through the power of ballot.
“The voiceless masses must change the destiny of the nation by voting out the political turncoats. He regretted that conscious, upright and honest leadership did not exist. The other speakers included Jinnah Town Amir Zahir Rasheed, Deputy Amir Chaudhary Umar Farooq, Group leader Chaudhary Muhammad Mushtaq, Sheikh Afzal Shaheen, Rana Munir Ahmed and a number of other senior leaders.
