Member of National Assembly (MNA) of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Daniyal Aziz said that his party is going to sue the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ) which released the Panama Papers.

He was talking to the Pakistan Today Editor Arif Nizami in his channel 24 programme DNA on Wednesday night.

“The name of Prime Minister Nawaz appeared in the Leaks by mistake. Therefore, it is necessary to tell the nation that the prime minister’s hands are clean,” he said.

He further added that the opposition is trying to target only the prime minister through its Terms of References (TORs). He said that if the prime minister’s name had not even appeared in the leaks, why did he have to come to the National Assembly to explain himself.

“People like Jahangeer Tareen and Aleem Khan should present themselves for probe as their names have appeared in the Panama Papers,” he said.

Talking about the recently established media cell in the Prime Minister’s Office under the supervision of the prime minister’s daughter, Maryam Nawaz, he said that the PML-N has created a think tank consisting of its MNAs and Maryam Nawaz has also given her input to the think tank.

“We have elected MNAs and appointed people like Muhammad Zubair and Mussadiq Malik in this think tank to craft the government policy,” he said, and added that 15 of his party’s leaders go to talk shows daily to present the point of view of the government.

“So, we decided to make a think tank to prepare ourselves to go to these talk shows,” he said.

Advisor to Sindh Chief Minister Sharmila Farooqi said that Bilawal Bhutto Zardari’s policy is the original policy of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and both Aitzaz Ahsan and Khursheed Shah are supposed to follow him as he is the chairman of the party.

“If the name of the PM’s son came up in the Panama Leaks, then why are ministers and government officials talking to media trying to clear their names,” Farooqi said, and added that the prime minister’s sons should clear their own names.
