Coalition parties on Saturday have rejected opposition’s proposed Terms of References (TORs) of the commission made to investigate into Panama leaks.
The coalition parties have expressed concerned over the joint opposition terms of references (ToRs) for Panama leaks inquiry commission, saying the rules framed by the opposition were contrary to the law and constitution.
Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif on Saturday presided the meeting of coalition parties which was attended by Jamiyat Ulema-e Islam-F (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman, Hasil Bazenjo, Mehmood Khan Achakzai, Akram Durrani, Ejazul Haq, Professor Sajid Mir and ministers Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, Ishaq Dar, Khawaja Asif, Zahid Hamid and Pervaiz Rashid.
In the meeting, coalition parties gave right of taking every kind of decision regarding Panama leaks probe to the premier and only suggested to consult with the opposition.
Later, speaking to media, Fazlur Rehman said they have apprised the government over their reservations, who have to make the final decision. Criticizing the opposition, Fazl said he was surprised by the opposition, who was not accepting the formation of a commission under the former judge, has agreed on retired bureaucrat.
The opposition has given a one-sided decision, not TORs of the commission, said PM Nawaz.
PM Nawaz also took the participants into confidence regarding the matter.
Earlier, opposition parties on Tuesday formulated fifteen TORs, demanding to start the investigation of the matter from PM Nawaz Sharif and his family.
It was also demanded that the investigation commission, led by the Chief Justice (CJ) of the Supreme Court, should submit its report within three months.
The opposition demanded that inquiry regarding the other individuals named in the Panama Leaks be completed within one year and that the services of international audit experts be sought in regards to the investigation.
The proposed TORs were also sent to PM Office along with a letter.
