LAHORE – Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that the government was aligned with the US in the drone attacks and was pursuing the policies of former president Pervez Musharraf. He was talking to the media after the 5th annual certificate distribution ceremony of Rangers Institute of Technical Education (RITE) at Pakistan Rangers Headquarters on Wednesday.
The CM said that everyone including the judges and generals should unite against the drone attacks.
He stressed that terrorism could not be eliminated through violence but that education was the answer. Condemning the drone attacks, he said the attacks instead of eliminating terrorism aggravated the same. He stated Pervez Musharraf’s policies as reason for terrorism and extremism. He said the nation must stand against drone attacks.
Replying to a question about distribution of Wattan Cards among flood victims, he said that financial assistance of Rs 20,000 each has been provided to the flood victims in a transparent manner. In response to a question about the report of the commission investigating the breaking of spurs and dykes during flood, he said that he had set up that commission and its report has been received which was being reviewed by the cabinet committee.
