Pakistan Today Editor Arif Nizami said while talking about the Terms of Reference (TORs) by the opposition parties to probe the Panama Papers that Aitzaz Ahsan has masterfully crafted these TORs and the prime minister may find himself in trouble after he accepts them.

“The prime minister is also in an aggressive mood as was clear from his address in Bannu along with Maulana Fazlur Rehman,” Nizami commented during his Channel 24 programme DNA on Tuesday night.

According to Nizami, the PM thinks that the worst is now over as the opposition has failed to reach a consensus on his resignation and Imran Khan has put on hold his plan of staging a protest outside PM’s residence in Jati Umra.

However, he said, Khan too likes his chances of taking the fight to the PM.

“In my opinion, Imran Khan is not looking for a third umpire this time unlike in the past when he staged a long sit-in in the federal capital,” he said.

MQM DEMANDS ACTION:

“The director-general (DG) Rangers, chief of army staff and corps commander Karachi must take notice of the extrajudicial killing of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM)’s worker Aftab Ahmad,” said MQM legislator from Karachi Salman Mujahid Baloch on Tuesday night.

He was talking to Pakistan Today Editor Arif Nizami in his talk show DNA.

The MQM lawmaker said the DG Rangers Sindh must constitute a committee to probe the killing of Aftab Ahmad and a stern action must be taken against the culprits.

The deceased was the coordinator of Farooq Sattar, the central leader of MQM in Pakistan. He had been picked up in a raid by the rangers a couple of days ago.

“The DG Rangers himself told Farooq Sattar that his coordinator was pronounced dead when he was taken to the hospital after a heart attack,” the member of National Assembly (MNA) from Karachi’s NA-239 constituency said. He added that the deceased succumbed to death after brutal torture as his body was clearly showing signs of torture. He said that MQM is not calling the whole institution of Rangers culprit but it does demand the identification of those who are responsible for the killing.
