Enraged locals on Monday staged protest on Ring Road against prolonged electricity loadshedding in Peshawar facing 18-20 hours daily power cut.
According to details, the villagers took to the streets and blocked Jamil Chowk by burning tyres. The protesters chanted slogans against Water and Power Development Authority (Wapda) administration. The district mayor also participated in the protest against unannounced loadshedding in excruciating hot weather.
They said that power outage is on peak as summer season has arrived. They also told the media that they are witnessing power only for four hours.
“Life has become paralysed due to unannounced loadshedding of 18-20 hours,” they said.
The situation of electricity is almost the same in every part of the country. People have to suffer all the day without electricity.
The residents urged the authorities to resolve the matter or else they would continue their protest.
Story of Karachi is no different. The power utility supplying electricity to Karachi had earlier assured the government that it will cut the hours of the load shedding in case of the scorching weather. The promise, however, not fulfilled in recent hot spell in the metropolis.
Pakistan Meteorological Department has also predicted hot and dry weather across country: “the weather would remain extremely hot and dry in most parts of the country during the day, however Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, FATA, Islamabad, Punjab, Gilgit and Baltistan and some parts of Quetta, Zhob, Sibbi, Sukker and Larkana are likely to receive heavy rain and gusty winds from Monday (today) to Thursday after evening.”
