Pakistan’s High Commissioner in India Abdul Basit has said that Pakistan will not withdraw from its stance on Kashmir.

Speaking at a forum, Basit said Pakistan would continue backing the inalienable right of the Kashmiris to freedom.

He said the leaderships in India and Pakistan were “determined” to pursue the peace process.

Basit called for a coordinated and a common approach to tackle issues like environment, water, trade, smuggling and terrorism.

Recently speaking at the Foreign Correspondents Club of South Asia, Basit had said, “We all are aware of those who seek to create unrest in Pakistan and destabilise the country.”

He said all such forces were bound to fail as the people of Pakistan were united to effectively counter anti-Pakistan subversive activities.

I think at present peace process (of Indo-Pak) is suspended, he added. “Let’s see if we are able to commence the dialogue process.”
