The government is expected to write a letter to the Chief Justice (CJ) of Pakistan Anwar Zaheer Jamali for the formation of a judicial commission that will probe into the Panama Leaks case. The decision of sending the letter was taken after mounting pressure from the Opposition parties who have been demanding a commission headed by the CJ.
According to sources, Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif has taken the decision after consultation with government Ministers and Secretaries.
The letter for the formation of commission is expected to be sent within the coming 2 days.
Earlier, political parties had agreed upon the formation of an independent judicial commission headed by the Chief Justice for probing into the Panama Leaks case. Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) also leaned in favour of a commission under CJ after its demand for a Parliamentary committee was not supported.
Opposition leaders particularly Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan had been adamant that he would only accept an investigation into the case under CJ.

The Government has thrown the ball in the court of the Supreme Court. And hope the SC CJ will keep his integrity intact. Even if the history of the previous commissions (including Judicial) is not encouraging. Murtaza Bhutto's murder case was investigated by one of the most neutral CJ Pakistan, Hon Saeed-uz-Zaman Siddiqui and he also included BB in his investigations. That commission clearly pointed towards the man behind the murder (said to Mr 10%) but nothing happened. This time the charges are not indigenous but coming from the Space. Hope Justice does not fail.

One can see the incompetence of Nawaz Sharif Governance. It took so many meetings, visit to London and yet letter has not been sent. Speculation is that CJSC will be requested to decline paving the way for Parliamentary Body. History tells us that Nawaz and Brother don’t leave with dignity.
