Patron Islamabad Chamber of Small Traders Shahid Rasheed Butt on Thursday said Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif has emerged as a ray of hope for the disappointed masses.
“We unconditionally support all initiatives of COAS which includes across-the-board-accountability which will transform Pakistan into a peaceful state with vibrant economy and great international image,” he said.
Talking to an urgent meeting of traders, he said that the army is sacrificing for a safe future of the coming generations.
Shahid Rasheed Butt said that Raheel has walked his talk since he took charge as the COAS which has made him the most popular military leader in the world.
Raheel has started accountability from home dismissing twelve officers including generals over charges of corruption in an unprecedented move which has sent a very strong signal, he added.
COAS rightly said that across the board accountability is necessary for the solidarity, integrity and prosperity of Pakistan and that the war against terror cannot be won unless the menace of corruption is uprooted.
Butt said that the dismissal of serving officers has added more credibility to the armed forces in carrying out across-the-board operations.
Army chief has set an example for politicians to follow, as the decision would build pressure on politicians as well as the judiciary to root out corruption.
He said, adding that anti-corruption laws should be reviewed, NAB should be strengthened, selling government entities on throwaway prices should be probed and those who get bank loans waived should be brought to the book.
