The death toll has reached 78 as another victim of Lahore park blast on Thursday succumbed to injuries.

According to reports, Maryam was taken to Jinnah Hospital after a blast hit Gulshan Iqbal Park in Lahore. The woman succumbed to injuries, taking tally to 78.

Earlier, two alleged members of a terrorist network allegedly involved in a suicide blast in Lahore’s Gulshan Iqbal Park were detained in Jaranwala city.

Sources told that suspects Abid and Bashir were rounded up during joint raid by CTD and intelligence agencies within limits of Saddar Police Station in Jaranwala.

Initially, ten to fifteen suspects were detained during the raid. The two were arrested and shifted undisclosed location for interrogation after the CTD found evidence of their involvement in the blast.

On March 27, a suicide bomber targeted a children s play area in Gulshan Iqbal Park in the eastern city of Lahore, killing at least 78 people, mostly children and women. Hundreds were also injured when explosives packed with ball bearings ripped through the crowds.

In response the army announced it had carried out raids in Lahore as well as in Faisalabad and Multan, two other major cities in Punjab province.

Hundreds of suspects have been detained across Punjab till now.

Banned organization Jamaat-ul-Ahrar, a faction of the Taliban, which once declared loyalty to the “Islamic State” movement (IS) had claimed the responsibility for the suicide attack and released a picture of the suspect.
