Opposition Leader in the National Assembly (NA) Khursheed Shah on Monday wrote a letter to Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif asking him to accept all the demands made by the farming community during the All Pakistan Kissan Conference.
The letter highlights issued faced by the farmers.
The opposition leader in the National Assembly said that a conference held in this regard on February 24 in the federal capital was attended by different leaders of political parties, farmers’ associations and other stakeholders.
The opposition leader attached with his letter the charter of demands and notification of the conference.
The charter of demand urges the government to impose agriculture emergency in the country. Another demand tabled by the community includes reversal of general sales tax (GST) on crops.
The charter of demand also calls for an end to tax on imported items.
During the conference, farmers had demanded the government to cut power tariff to Rs 5 per unit for usage of tube wells.
