Significant development was made in the Baldia Town incident case Friday as Rangers apprehended a key suspect and Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s (MQM) fugitive worker, Zubair alias Charya. Rangers have obtained the custody of Zubair for 90 days.

According to the details, Zubair has been accused of setting fire to a factory in Baldia Town in 11th September 2012 for not paying up extortion money, which led to the deaths of 259 innocent lives. Zubair was presented at the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) along with one of his accomplices, Shehzad Pervaiz, under strict security measures.

Rangers’ law officer told the Court that both suspects have been involved in incident of target killings, extortion and kidnapping for ransom along with numerous other crimes. Zubair had fled to Saudi Arabia after this act of terrorism.

The ATC has ordered both suspects to be placed under the Rangers’ custody for 90 days and has advised Sindh Interior Ministry to form a Joint Investigation Committee (JIT) of both suspects, which will submit its report within 15 days.

The arrest is being seen as a major breakthrough in the case as law enforcement agencies have been putting in a good deal of effort for a considerable amount of time for the capture of Zubair.

  1. Good that the main suspect has been arrested but this would not be the first JIT on the incident. So what happened to the findings of the precious JITs ?
