SWAT/PESHAWAR – At least seven miscreants were killed during a clash with the security forces just on the borders with Lower Dir in the Matta area of Swat Valley. The officials said a group of militants was attempting to enter Swat.
The security forces directed them to stop, but they opened fire. After a brief shootout, all the seven militants were shot dead while two soldiers sustained injuries. The killed militants were coming from Mohmand Agency to Shangla district via Dir and Swat. The officials said six machine guns and seven hand grenades were recovered from them.
Those killed were identified as Der Alam and Sherzada from Shoor, Abdur Rehman of Chamtalai Khawazakhela, Saleh Rehman from Shoomtai, Fazal Tawab from Beerarai Khawazakhela and Faqir Jan and Shams-ul-Hadi from Matta.
30 suspects: The security forces, continuing the military action against militants in Baezai tehsil of Mohmand Agency, defused a number of land mines and apprehended more than 30 suspects on Sunday. During the advancement, a group of militants attacked a group of the security forces at Matti village, martyring one soldier and injuring two others.
The security forces initiated retaliatory action against the militants, but there is no detail of human and logistic losses of the militants in the retaliatory action. The officials revealed that after the destruction of important dens and hideouts of the militants, the security forces had been on ground advancement for the last two days.
Around 20 improvised explosive devices (IEDs) planted by the militants on different roads and routes had been defused, they said and added the security forces had caught more than 30 suspected militants in the area.
