Federal Minister for Planning Development and Reforms, Ahsan Iqbal on Tuesday said that continuity of policies was imperative for sustainable progress of the country.

Talking to the media at National College of Arts (NCA), he said that opposition parties were hostile to the government and did not want it to complete its constitutional tenure.

To a question, he said it was necessary to give democracy a chance as uncertainty and anti-democracy steps weaken countries democratically and economically.

Ahsan Iqbal said that youth was a precious asset of the state as no nation could progress without active participation of its youth.

He said that Pakistan had nothing when it came into being but now the homeland was the 7th nuclear power of the world and historic development projects were being undertaken by the PML-N government.

To another question, the minister said that the goal was still away, adding that the nation would have to move forward with positive intent to achieve glory and join the elite group of developed nations.

Stressing upon making collective efforts for progress of the country, Ahsan Iqbal said that continuation of policies and stability were key factors for the prosperity and development as Turkey, Malaysia and others developed states maintained the same spirit.

Ahsan Iqbal said that international media used to label Pakistan as a dangerous destination but today the international newspapers depicted Pakistan as “a new success story” and “an emerging state”.

He said it was time to show Pakistan’s success stories and brilliant face to the international world instead of leveling allegations against each other and hatching conspiracies, adding that all must follow agenda of economic progress by setting aside negative politics.

Earlier, the minister took oath from Young Development Corps (YDC) of the NCA and inaugurated an exhibition of works of the role and contribution of Pakistan Railways at Zahoor-ul-Akhlaq Gallery.

The minister also inaugurated Girls Hostel-2 of the NCA.
