Over 500 acres of land owned by Quaid-e-Azam University is under the illegal occupation of key figures, politicians and locals.

Markets have been built on 50 acres with the alleged assistance and cooperation of the Capital Development Authority (CDA) officials. Key personalities and politicians have allegedly occupied 50 acres of the land while nine villages are set up on 400 acres of land.

The administration of Quaid-e-Azam University has informed the government about illegal occupation of the land of the varsity but no practical steps have been taken so far to end illegal occupation.

From 1967 to 1972 a total of 1709 acre, 4 kanal and 12 marla land was acquired for the university. Even after payments to the owners of the land the residents did not hand over possession of land completely.

Sources said the university administration has repeatedly asked Ministry of Interior and Ministry of Capital Administration and Development Division to take steps to end illegal occupation but no action has been taken so far despite assurances.
