Opposition Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) agreed to extend its “conditional” support to PIA Bill over government’s assurance that it would refrain from privatizing the national flag carrier and withdraw cases on Monday.

The decision was taken at a meeting of PPP’s Parliamentary Party, which finalised its strategy for the joint session of Parliament.

Leader of the Opposition in National Assembly Syed Khursheed Shah presided over the meeting.

The PPP members held consultation on the proposed PIA privatisation and other important bills. It was decided that senior leader Aitzaz Ahsan would present the party’s stance in the joint sitting on Monday

They also called for withdrawal of all cases registered against protesting PIA employees.

  1. The overall situation looks hopeless as far as getting rid of the loss-ridden Airline is concerned. PPP has the biggest number of 'parchi employees' who are non-professional and non-producing and a burden on the Pay-roll. Want to see what the net result is.
