Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) Deputy Parliamentary leader in the National Assembly, Makhdoom Shah Mehmood Qureshi Friday warned street agitation in case the government did not constitute a judicial commission of serving judges headed by Supreme Court Chief Justice to probe Panama Leaks.

Talking to journalists at Multan airport, he said a well-reputed international audit firm must assist the judicial commission because the scam involved tax evasion. The judicial commission should be given a timeframe to complete the investigation with the guarantee that the commission’s report would be made public, he said.

Makhdoom Shah Mehmood Qureshi said if the judicial commission is not constituted according to their demand and parliament does not hear PTI’s grievances, the party will have no option but to take to streets against the government.

Giving his second option, he said the SC Chief Justice take suo-moto action according to the constitution and constitute a judicial commission under his command. He said the country’s political elite and PML-N leadership demanded PTI resume parliament and resolve grievances on the floor of house when PTI was observing Islamabad sit-in. Now the parliament is not ready to hear PTI demands when PTI had resumed the parliament and accepted Judicial Commission verdict.

Makhdoom Shah Mehmood Qureshi said that Prime Minsiter Nawaz Sharif had presented his point of view on PTV and the PTI was demanding same treatment and sent letter to PTV management for giving time to PTI Chairman Imran Khan on PTV to elaborate his point of view in response to the prime minister’s statement.

He said the PTV is a state-run public institution instead PML-N owned organisation. He said PTI is expecting the PTV will on-air PTI stance.

Makhdoom Shah Mehmood Qureshi congratulated MQM on securing Karachi by-poll and said the MQM should revisit extremely low turnout of only 11pc. The majority voters rejected by-poll and they did not show their interest.
