LHC adjourns hearing on Panama Papers till 12th

The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Friday ordered annexing all petitions on Panama Papers scandal together for hearing.

Scores of petitioners, including PTI’s Gohar Nawaz have filed petitions in the court alleging the involvement of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and his family in money laundering pleading to the court to disqualify the prime minister.

LHC Justice Shahid Waheed ordered annexing all petitions on Panama Papers scandal together for the next hearing on April 11.

The bench also said that the court will hear the arguments over the Prime Minister’s alleged involvement in the scandal.

Sindh High Court hearing:

In Karachi, Sindh High Court also heard a petition seeking deseating of Prime Minister Nawaz from the parliament over his alleged involvement in offshore companies scandal. The court asked where the name of the prime minister and his wife described in the papers? The petitioner said that the prime minister’s son Hussain Nawaz has confessed registration of offshore companies in his name, while the names of other children of the prime minister were also given in the leaks.

The court observed that the children of the prime minister not dependent on him how the action can be taken against prime minister? The court directed the petitioner to argue over the matter in the next hearing of the case and adjourned the hearing for indefinite period.
