Former chief selector Haroon Rasheed on Friday criticised Waqar Younis’ scathing report on the team’s performance in the WorldT20.
The 63-year-old alleged the former head coach made “false statements” in his report presented to the PCB’s Fact Finding Committee. “Younis’s claims that the team was selected without his consultation are not true,” Rasheed said.
Rasheed also accused the former head coach for being indecisive. “Waqar Younis used to change his stance during and after team meetings,” he added.

Younis in his report, which was leaked, had specifically targeted Haroon Rasheed for making too many changes in the team. “Haroon Rasheed was made chief selector after the World Cup and since then there have been so many changes on every tour, at times I feel there were stop-gap decisions, but to develop a team, you need to believe in your decisions and give them time,” Younis had stated in the report, according to ESPNCricinfo.
On Monday, following the special committee’s report on poor team performance in the Asia Cup and World T20, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) disbanded Haroon Rasheed’s selection committee with immediate effect.
Rasheed said the move was unfair and the selection committee was merely being treated as a scapegoat for Pakistan team’s lacklustre performance. “When the team loses, the selection committee is held responsible,” he lamented.
