Pakistan People’s Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari held a discussion session with Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa party leaders over Skype to personally inquire about the tragic situation following torrential rains, floods and landslides resulting in a brewing human disaster while both federal and provincial governments sitting pathetically cross-legged and unmoved.
The PPP leaders from Peshawar and other parts of the province informed the party chairman about total failure of NDMA and PDMA in understanding and addressing the woes of huge number of population who turned homeless and were incommunicado following the rains and ensuing devastations.
Road communication to many villages and hamlets have broken and there is acute shortage of food and other items necessary for human life to survive.
Electric system is in shambles but both the federal and provincial authorities seem unconcerned to the brewing tragedy, the PPP chairman was informed.
Bilawal Bhutto said it was the duty of the federal and provincial governments to take care of citizens hit by perpetual natural disasters in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, FATA and other affected areas. But both these governments and their concerned authorities were ignoring the victims and their needs to survive, he added.
The PPP chairman said that details of the situations being faced by the rain-ravaged people had pained him, and silence and indifference of the rulers was causing depression among the masses.
Those who participated in the Skype communication include PPP KPK President Senator Khanzada Khan, ex-governor Masood Kauser, ex-MNA Noor Alam Khan, Najmuddin Khan, Rahimdad Khan, Sahir Shah, Azam Afridi and others. The party leaders had gathered at PPP General Secretary Humayun Khan’s residence.
