The Punjab Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) late Tuesday night gunned down six suspected terrorists belonging to the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) at Syed Chowk in Shera Kot area of Lahore.

With the addition of these six suspects, the total number of terrorists killed in the city after the deadly Gulshan-e-Iqbal bombing has risen to 11. CTD sources said that 5kgs of explosives material, 2 Kalashnikovs, 4 pistols, 4 detonators, bullets and 3 motorcycles were recovered from the suspects’ possession.
According to CTD sources, the security agency had received information that 10 terrorists had been spotted near the river bank in the area of Kachi Abadi Talat Park. The information also revealed that the terrorists were plotting an attack against law enforcement agencies.

CTD officials claimed that the suspects had been warned to surrender but instead they opened fire on the raiding team, leading to a full scale shootout. The agency personnel said they were able to kill six suspects while their four accomplices fled into the darkness.
CTD sources claimed that the killed terrorists belonged to TTP’s Ustad Aslam group and were in Lahore to carry out attacks on important government personalities and law enforcement personnel.
Earlier, 5 suspected terrorists allegedly affiliated with al Qaeda were shot dead by the Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) police in Nawab Town.
