Hardline religious leaders on Saturday resolved to launch a movement against anti-Islamic moves of the government, corrupt elite and to protect Islamic rites and family system till enforcement of Nizam-e-Mustafa in the country.

This declaration came during the Nizam-e-Mustafa Conference which was addressed by Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rahman, Jamaat ud Dawa (JuD) chief Hafiz Muhammad Saeed, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Sami chief Maulana Samiul Haq, JU chief Dr Abul Khair Zubair as well as Prof Sajid Mir, and presided over by Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) chief Sirajul Haq.

A joint declaration adopted at the moot made it clear that any amendment to the country’s blasphemy laws was unacceptable, and vowed to foil Qadyanis’ conspiracies against the concept of the finality of the Prophethood of Holy Prophet (PBUH).

The clerics declared the execution of Mumtaz Qadri a judicial murder, condemned the arrest of his supporters, and demanded their immediate release and withdrawal of cases registered against them.

The conference termed the Punjab’s women protection act an attack on the Muslim family system, and resolved to bring forth an alternative draft law for this purpose in the light of the Holy Quran and Sunnah. It declared that the government would not be permitted to shake the unity of the house or the family system under the cover of the law passed by the Punjab Assembly.

It also noted that the bill had been rejected by the womenfolk and clerics of all schools of thought, while the Council of Islamic Ideology (CII) had termed it repugnant to the Shariah. The joint declaration said that under the constitution, any law that violated the Shariah could not have any legal status.

The declaration denounced the efforts of a section of media to ridicule Islamic rites, causing provocation, and promoting Indian culture besides obscenity and nudity, and stressed that this tendency must be checked effectively.

The conference strongly condemned all hues of terrorism and extremism as well as the suicide bombing at Lahore’s Gulshan-e-Iqbal Park, observing that these aimed at weakening the country’s ideology, solidarity and economy.

The clerics condemned Indian intelligence agency RAW for running a terrorist network inside Pakistan to destabilise the country, and demanded exemplary punishment for its agents and spies. They also condemned the government’s criminal silence on the issue.

The moot denounced the government’s propaganda against madrassas and linking them with terrorism. It called on the government to end this propaganda, maintain that seminaries had no link with terrorists.

The conference also condemned the government’s efforts to put the Kashmir issue on the back burner and befriending India, arguing that Indian rulers were directly responsible for the bloodshed in the Valley and demolition of Babri Masjid.

The moot also slammed the government for its silence over victimisation of pro-Pakistani people in Bangladesh and termed their trials as “unlawful”.

In his address, JI chief Sirajul Haq categorically said that Pakistan was an Islamic, ideological state and hundreds of thousands of people had laid down their lives for it. “The aim of establishing this state was not secularism or liberalism, but the Khilafat and Islamic system based on the Quran and Sunnah,” he said, adding that any conspiracies on this score would not be allowed to succeed. Haq further said that religious leadership would have to stand united for defence of the country’s ideology and the ulema would have to play pivotal role in this regard.

JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman, in his address, said that the Muslim Ummah, Pakistan and especially the religious forces in the country were the target of aggression that was led by the US. He said the US wanted to end all the institutions striving for the propagation of Islam. “The Muslims did not want war but a war had been waged against them.” He was of the view that the West believed that if the world adopted Islam’s economic system, the western system would collapse.

JuD chief Hafiz Muhammad Saeed said that the enemy was killing the youth of the Muslim states. He said it was time that the Muslim rulers stopped dancing to the tunes of the enemy and talking of liberalism and secularism.

  1. All the clerics in our country must present themselves as a "MuslimRole Model" in the most true sense in accordance with the teachings of Quran and Sunnah. The clerics who participated in D-Chowk Islamabad dharna violating the terms of agreement with Punjab Govt, made hate speeches using abusive language unbecoming of even a commoner ,damaged public property and created troubles for the common citizens had lost their dignity and honour in the eyes of all the sane elements of society. Before launching any movement they must have a deep look into their Garaibans "گریبانوں میں ضرور جھانکیں". Enough is enough. No more befooling of masses in the often repeated slogan of Nizam e Mustafa. باری تعالآ ھم پر رحم فرماۓ اور مزید ذلالتوں سے بچاۓ اور نام نہاد مذہب کے ٹھیکیداروں سے محفوظ فرماۓ (آمین

  2. Will keep pressurizing the Government until a Ministry or Two would not be offered to them – particularly JUI (F).
