KARACHI – Seven people, including a policeman, lost their lives in separate incidents across the city on Friday.
Sub-inspector Abdul Karim Chohan, 50, was killed in the wee hours when unidentified culprits opened fire on him in Musharraf Colony.
His body was shifted to the Civil Hospital Karachi. He was in charge of the Hawkesbay Police Post.
Naveed Khan, 19, was killed in the Gulshan-e-Iqbal police precincts when unidentified culprits opened fire on him near Moti Mahal. His body was shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH).
BODIES FOUND: The Surjani police recovered two bullet-riddled bodies from a deserted area near Khuda Ki Basti.
They said one of the deceased men was identified as 30-year-old Nadeem Sadiq. The bodies were shifted to ASH.
FIRE: A man was burnt to death, whereas an auto rickshaw and a motorcycle were also reduced to ashes when a fire accidentally broke out in the Old Golimar area of Nazimabad in the wee hours.
Sources said that the fire had broken out at a warehouse of old clothes at 3:30 am in the Waheedabad area.
As a result, Zahid Fateh Muhammad alias Joji was burnt to death. An auto rickshaw and a motorcycle were also reduced to ashes.
ELECTROCUTED: A man was electrocuted in the Korangi area. Fayyaz, 22, accidentally came into contact with a live wire from an electric pole in Mehran Town and died on the spot. His body was shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC).
TRAIN MISHAP: In an attempt to cross the railway track, a man was crushed to death by a train in Gaddafi Town of the Landhi area.
His body was shifted to the JPMC. However, his identity could not be ascertained until the filing of this report.
