The Supreme Court (SC) while giving two weeks time to Attorney General (AG) Ashtar Ausaf for making preparation in the case pertaining to elimination of interest from the economic system has adjourned hearing of the case indefinitely.

A two-member bench of SC presided over by Justice Amir Hani Muslim took up the case for hearing Thursday.

The court expressed displeasure over non appearance of AG before it. The AG appeared and apologised for his non appearance.

Counsel for the petitioner Raja Irshad advocate appeared in the court and argued that eliminating interest from the economic system is the constitutional obligation of the government and that it is not discharging its obligation.

The AG told the court that he was newly appointed, therefore, more time should be given to him for preparing the case.

The court while giving two weeks to him for preparation of the case put off hearing of the case indefinitely.
