Captain Shahid Afridi has decided to stay back in Dubai as the team heads home following a humiliating exit from the World Twenty20 World Cup.
The Pakistan cricket team arrived in Dubai on Saturday evening to where those returning to Karachi and Lahore will catch their respective connections. Shahid Afridi will stay behind in Dubai for another 48-hours.
Australia beat Pakistan by 21 runs in Mohali on Friday eliminating Pakistan from the World Twenty20.
I will retire after consulting Imran Khan, sympathizers: Shahid Afridi
“As a player I´m fine but as a captain I´m not fit because it’s not easy to handle the pressure, especially if you are playing for Pakistan the expectation pressure, the media pressure, everything.”
Pakistani captain Shahid Afridi said he will consult Imran Khan and sympathizers before deciding on his retirement.
Talking to players at the lunch table, he further said he is fully fit as a player and he is not keen to keep captaincy adding that he would also like to play as a player in the team but not as the captain.
Kohli becoming a ‘wall’ just like Tendulkar: Afridi
Shahid Afridi compared batting maestro Virat Kohli with the legendary Sachin Tendulkar, saying he has now become the wall of the Indian cricket team, winning match after match with his bat.
Kohli has been in golden touch in the ongoing World Twenty20, playing match-winning knocks against Pakistan and Bangladesh under trying situations and Afridi was all praise for the Delhi batsman.
“Virat Kohli is becoming like a wall in the Indian team. Earlier, it used to be Sachin Tendulkar who won matches for India and now it is Kohli who is playing that role,”
“India are a world class side and will be tough to beat. But we will think about the match later. T20 cricket takes a lot out of the players.
You are our hero”’ I love you””’ shahid bai
