Cricket-lovers launched a scathing attack on T20 captain Shahid Afridi, Pakistan Cricket Board chairman Shaharyar Khan and board of governors’ member Najam Sethi after Australia knocked Pakistan out of ICC World Twenty20 on Friday.

Many people took to Twitter and Facebook while others destroyed their TV sets, LCDs and LEDs as they vent their anger over Pakistan team’s exit from the T20 tournament, holding the PCB management and selection committees responsible for putting up an inept, mismatched and inexperienced team together.

“Three people – Shaharyar Khan, Najam Sethi and Shahid Afridi – have to be blamed for Pakistan team’s dismal performance,” said Anees Waqar while talking to Pakistan Today.

He argued that Shaharyar Khan was too old to sanely justify the responsibilities his position with the PCB called for, Najam Sethi was misfit for the slot and had been awarded the position for his loyalty with the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz while Afridi did not deserve to be in the team.

“Nepotism in the PCB has ruined our cricket team. It’s time to purge the team from such elements,” said Ahmed Salahuddin, another cricket enthusiast.

Many others Pakistan Today talked to said Afridi should retire now and consider working in Pashto movies instead. “Cricket isn’t for Afridi,” said another cricket lover, Mohsin Tariq.

Transvestites also held demonstrations against Pakistan’s poor show in recent cricketing events. TV footages showed transvestites flashing bangles for Pakistani cricketers.

Some people were of the opinion that the PCB needs to be overhauled and better coaches and selectors should be hired to improve the team’s performance.

Earlier, when Pakistan team lost to India in the World T20, Journalist Ansar Abbasi took to twitter to express his disappointment:

“PCB you have utterly disappointed us. #PSLT20 was a success but Pak team is bringing shame for the nation again and again.”

Haroon Rashid, another journalist said: “Let’s replace Najam Sethi with Hafiz Saeed, at least against India. Pak will surely win.” Another, Farhan Khan Virk, went even further: “#IndvsPak This is all because of one man, Najam Sethi.”
