Security analyst Gen (r) Ghulam Mustafa said on Thursday that in view of the recent arrest of an Indian spy, who was also a serving colonel in the Indian Navy, the Pakistani team visiting Pathankot on March 27 would face a cold and hostile welcome. However, the incident should also make it clear to India that they cannot paint the truth with their own brush forever.
Talking to Pakistan Today Editor Arif Nizami in his Channel 24 programme DNA, Gen (r) Ghulam Mustafa said Pakistan should be firm in its approach to India. He said that from a geo-strategic point of view Pakistan has become a lifeline of India as the neighbouring country needs passage for its goods to and from Afghanistan and on to Central Asian Republics (CARs) through Pakistan.
He said that while India is creating security problems for Pakistan in Balochistan, FATA and Karachi as is evident from the arrest of a serving Indian soldier from Balochistan, it is also masterminding mock trials in Bangladesh for war crimes in order to sully Pakistan’s reputation. He said that a similar mock trial is about to begin in Bangladesh with 195 people on trial.
He said that the purpose of the trial is to show the world community that the Pakistan Army committed war crimes in 1971, while the fact is that the massacres in Bangladesh had been committed by the Indian side.
He said that the trials were being conducted against people who may have had a soft corner for Pakistan as well as the regime’s political opponents.
He said that there had been voices inside Bangladesh that the country wasn’t complete until West Bengal in India also becomes part of Bangladesh. He said that pro-Pakistani sentiment in Bangladesh was also gathering momentum. That is why, he said, Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina Wajid who is deeply pro-India is helping them counter any future problems they may face in their relationship by vilifying Pakistan. He said that Pakistan should take a strong stand against such moves.
Pakistanis are crooks and liars.
