Pakistan Day celebrated at the United Nations

For the first time in the history, Pakistan Day celebrations were held at the General Assembly hall of the United Nations.

Diplomats from around 140 countries, UN officials, civil society representatives, media and members of the Pakistani diaspora were present during the celebrations. A concert, titled “Sufi Night”: Music of Peace was organised by the Pakistan Mission to the UN, and Ustad Rahat Fateh Ali Khan performed in the concert.

During the performance, Rahat Fateh Ali sang his popular songs. On the occasion, United Nations Secretary General Ban-ki Moon expressed regret for missing the event said Sufi music highlights the real teachings of Islam. He stunned the audience by wishing in the Urdu language.
