After multiple delays, Jamal Shah’s feature film directorial debut Revenge of the Worthless is now ready for release. With post-production of the movie nearing completion, the director has revealed a tentative release date for the upcoming action-drama. Not willing to commit to a final date, Shah said, “We are aiming to release the movie towards the end of April. We will be making an official announcement about the release date within a few days.”
Shah – who also appeared in Ho Mann Jahaan – also shared, “I want to have the Digital Cinema Package (DCP) in my hand before I can make an announcement. Otherwise if I commit to a date and the movie is not completed, we would have to postpone it.”
According to the film-maker, the reason why the movie has endured such a lengthy post-production process was the dearth of proper facilities in Pakistan. “There are very few post-production facilities in the country that is why the work on the movie is taking a lot of time,” explained Shah. In an earlier interview, the film-maker had revealed the movie had endured a tumultuous editing phase after the system crashed when the process was nearing completion. This forced the editors to start all over again.
Produced under the banner of Hunerkada Films, Revenge of the Worthless depicts the heroic struggles of a few unsung heroes during the 2009 Swat insurgency. The film features an ensemble cast with Jamal Shah, Firdous Jamal, Maira Khan, Shamil Khan and Ayub Khosa in lead roles.
