ISLAMABAD – Farhan Mehboob is the top seed in men’s category, while Saima Shoukat is number one seed in women’s category for the main round of the Chief of Army Staff Open squash tournament, which will be played from April 20 at Mushaf Ali Mir Squash Complex, Islamabad.
Secretary Punjab Squash Association Tariq Farooq Rana said that male players will compete for a total cash prize of Rs 400,000, while female players would vie for a reward of Rs 86,000. He said the seedings of the players have been established based on their performance in national events. Waqar Mehboob, Yasir Butt, Mansoor Zaman and Danish Atlas have been seeded number second, third, fourth and fifth, respectively. Other ranked players are Farhan Zaman (sixth),Waqas Mehboob (seventh), Aqib Hanif (eighth), Nasir Iqbal (nineth) and Mujahid Hussain (tenth). In women’s rankings, Zahab Khan is the second seed, alomg with Zoya Mehboob (third), Rushan Mehboob (fourth) and Habiba Khan (fifth).
Rana said President PSA Ajmad Ali Khan Noon has formed a number of committees for the smooth conduct of the event. He said the qualifying round of the prestigious event will be played from April 18 to 19, featuring thirty two players.
