CM reviews pace of work on Bhikki Gas Power Plant

Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif said on Tuesday that the government would meet the challenge of the elimination of energy crisis at any cost.

He was addressing a gathering of engineers, experts, government officers and labourers after reviewing the pace of work on the gas power plant at Bhikki, Sheikhupura.

The chief minister said that engineers and labourers working on the gas power plant at Bhikki were discharging an important national responsibility and their look-after and provision of facilities was the responsibility of project administration and the Punjab government.

He said that he would personally monitor provision of facilities to these workers.

He said that the nation was looking forward to timely completion of power projects, therefore, delay in their implementation could not be tolerated.

He said that work should be carried out at full pace so that the energy projects could be completed within the stipulated time period.

Shehbaz Sharif said the government would meet the expectations of the nation in every sector including energy. He said the Punjab government was setting up a gas-based 1,180 MW power plant at Bhikki with its own resources, addding the project would be completed by the end of next year.

He said the Punjab government had made investment in the gas-based power project. However, this project would supply electricity to the whole country, and accelerate the efforts being made under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif for resolving energy crisis and eliminating load shedding from the country.

He said that work is being carried out round-the-clock under the leadership of PM Sharif for removing darkness from every nook and corner of the country.

The CM reviewed the pace of work on gas power plant and expressed satisfaction. He also directed the authorities concerned to spare no effort for ensuring timely completion of the project.

The chief minister was also given a briefing on the project. Quaid-e-Azam Thermal Power Private Company Limited CEO Ahad Khan Cheema gave a briefing on the progress of the Bhikki Power Plant project.
