Committee Convener and Provincial Education Minister Rana Mashhood Ahmed presided over a meeting at Lahore Education Board, here today. He told that the chief minister wants to immediately transfer the benefit of use of Urdu language in government affairs to the people of the province.

He said that the role of educational institutions in promotion of Urdu language and its use in government offices is very important adding that instructions have been issued to all public universities to hold seminars and workshops for creating awareness about Urdu.

The meeting was told that as the websites are seen and read at international level, changing these websites in Urdu is not appropriate. However, every webpage of all government departments must be in English as well as in Urdu.

  1. This is gang-rape of your indigenous languages by forcibly imposing an alien language onto 180 million Pakistanis who speak different languages other than Urdu. Urdu is a beautiful language but it has no historical roots with any province of Pakistan nor is it spoken by majority of population of those provinces.

Instead, make all languages like Sindhi, Punjabi, Pashto, Balochi, Hindko, Siraiki etc as national languages of Pakistan. We Pakistanis followed India after they went nuclear so why not follow them when they have recognized dozens of regional languages as national languages of the country?
