FAISALABAD – A security guard was killed by the dacoits who forced an entry into a cotton yarn warehouse of in Dost Street at Maqbool Road in the jurisdiction of Batala Colony police at midnight.
Reportedly, 20 dacoits entered the warehouse and took the staff hostage at gunpoint, took their mobiles and wallets and detained them in a room. During the robbery, one of the watchmen, Mati Ullah son of Khushi Muhammad attempted to shout for help, but he was overpowered by the gangsters who stuffed his mouth with a heavy piece of cloth as a result of which he died from suffocation.
The dacoits loaded a large stock of cotton yarn worth Rs 15 million in six cargo trucks they had brought with them and drove away. The police arrived at the scene after two hours. SHO Batala Colony Mian Abid and the area DSP were censured by the regional police officer (RPO) for the inordinate delay.
CITIZENS PROTEST KILLING OF 2 BROTHERS BY ROBBERS: The citizens staged a protest after dacoits shot dead two brothers and wounded three family members, including their parents, during a robbery at Chukera village in jurisdiction of Ghulam Muhammad Abad police. A dacoit gang, dressed in security uniforms, entered a house at night and took the whole family hostage.
25-year-old Noor Mohammad and his younger brother Akhtar sons of Khan Muhammad were shot dead by the dacoits for resisting the robbers. The dacoits also injured their father Khan Mohammad and mother. The residents of the area reacted to the tragic incident and condemned the police for its failure to stop crimes.
SUICIDE ATTACKS ON SHRINES CONDEMNED: Terrorist attack on the shrine of Hazrat Sakhi Sarwar in Dera Ghazi Khan, killing more than 50 innocent people is, in fact, an alien conspiracy hatched to undermine Islam and Pakistan, said former textile minister Chaudhry Mumtaz Ali Cheema. “The enemies of Islam and humanity, through their activities under the notorious Blackwater, are committing atrocities at the shrines,” he said.
He said the bloodbath of unarmed innocent civilians at shrines was condemnable as the perpetrators of these acts did not deserve to be called as humans. “A handful of mercenaries are playing with the lives of people,” he lamented. He bitterly criticised the government for its inaction towards the unending wave of terrorism, sweeping across the country over recent years.
“All the claims by the government for busting the terror network has proved wrong as the government has failed to protect the shrines,” he added. Commenting on the PPP and PML-N’s subservience to American policies, he said both the parties were like two wives of a polygamist. “Both of them are jealously competing with each other to win the pleasure of America,” he said.
Meanwhile, Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has issued cheques of Rs 500,000 each for the families of the 20 victims from Faisalabad who died in Sakhi Sarwar’s suicide blast. The cheques were presented to the families by PML-N MNAs, Haji Akram Ansari and Mrs Khalida Mansoor, who were accompanied by DCO Nasim Sadiq during his visit to the homes of the grieved families in Ghulam Muhammad Abad, Muradabad, Kanak Basti, Chak Jhumra, Samundary and other areas.
