The Lal Masjid Foundation (LMF) on Friday announced to stop its legal war against former military ruler Pervez Musharraf till his return to the country.

Addressing a news conference here, advocate Tariq Asad, the LMF president and son of Abdul Rashid Ghazi, the slain leader of Lal Masjid, Sahibzada Haroonur Rashid said Musharraf was allowed to go abroad by a nexus of all state institutions, including judiciary, which reflected that the government and judiciary were not free.

“We are doing legal struggle for the past four years and our family had to face pressure in this regard in the form of baseless and fake cases registered against us. Despite these tactics we continued our legal war in the various courts of the country, but ironically the government has allowed Pervez Musharraf to travel abroad which shows it has no moral courage to bring him back in the country,” they added.

They said that despite being summoned by the courts in various cases, including Lal Masjid case, Musharraf did not appear before the judges. The LMF leaders however vowed that they would continue their legal war against all those involved in the Lal Masjid operation.
