Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan said on Monday it was necessary to broaden the definition of terrorists to include journalists, who are equally guilty.

Speaking after another bombing in the Turkish capital which killed 37 people, Erdogan said: “It’s not only the person who pulls the trigger, but those who made that possible who should also be defined as terrorists, regardless of their title,” adding this could be a journalist, an MP or a civil society actor.

The statement came after an incident of suicide car bombing at a bus stop in central Ankara on Sunday.

The attack came just weeks after 29 people were killed in another suicide car bomb attack targeting the military in Ankara on February 17 that was claimed by a Kurdish militant group.

Following the attack, it was reported that there was a media blackout in Turkey.
