Rangers detain FCS ex-chief Nisar Morai on terror charges

Sindh Rangers on Wednesday detained Nisar Morai, former chairman of Fisherman Cooperative Society (FCS) and close aid of Sindh’s top politician of ruling party, for 90 days after informing the anti-terrorism court (ATC) about his preventive detention for questioning.

The Rangers along with its counsel produced the suspect, Morai, handcuffed before the administrative judge of ATC amid tight security. Morai, a PPP leader, who was wanted to the National Accountability Bureau in money laundering cases and embezzlement charges of millions of rupees, was arrested within the limits of Darakhshan police station. The paramilitary force told the judge that they had credible information about the suspect’s involvement in facilitating target killers and other offences which came within the ambit of Anti-Terrorism Act. The court also directed formation of joint investigation team to interrogate the suspect.

SUSPECT ARRESTED

Sindh Rangers Wednesday detained a suspect allegedly involved in attacking Rangers check post for 90 days after informing the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) about their preventive detention for questioning.

The Rangers along with its counsel produced the suspect, Adnan Elahi, said to a worker of political party, before the administrative judge of ATC amid tight security. The paramilitary force told the judge that they hade credible information about the suspect’s involvement in offences which came within the ambit of Anti-Terrorism Act.

According to Rangers, the suspect, Elahi, was arrested in a targeted operation from Nazimabad area of Karachi and he was involved in attacking the check post of paramilitary force in Gulshan-e-Iqbal.
