Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Elementary and Secondary Education Muhammad Atif Khan believes that IT education has become the basic need of every sector in this modern era. Its importance in education sector is far more than other sectors; therefore, the KP government is striving hard to increase the use of IT manifold in the education sector.

He expressed these views, while talking to participants of the PTCL team in a meeting at Peshawar on Monday. The meeting discussed the establishment of 500 IT Labs in government schools of the province, while it also reviewed the use of PTCL services in this regard.

The meeting was attended by Secretary Elementary and Secondary Education Afzal Latif and other concerned. The provincial education minister said that the better use of IT expertise in education sector would bring visible change in the education system, ensure teachers and students attendance which is a major problem of government schools.

Atif Khan said, “A pen in the hand of every child of the province was the mission of PTI government and for the purpose, the government evolved a survey programme in which they will go to each and every house to ascertain the real number of children not willing to go to school.”

He said short, medium and long term steps were being introduced to improve the education sector on emergent basis adding that agreements were being finalized with IT companies to introduce digital literacy seriously. He further said that from the new academic year, 500 IT Labs would formally be initiated. He said that the PTI chairman Imran Khan and CM KP Pervez Khattak were taking keen interest in the process. There was no scarcity of funds for the education sector; therefore, no excuse would be accepted in delaying of the schemes Muhammad Atif Khan concluded.
