The Supreme Court has on Friday ordered to remove all illegal sign boards and billboards in Karachi within a month.

A three-member bench of the Supreme Court headed by Justice Ameer Hani heard the illegal sign boards and billboards in Supreme Court’s Karachi Registry. During the proceedings, Karachi Municipal Corporation (KMC) Administrator Toshan Sheikh, secretary local bodies, additional attorney general and other officials were present. Referring to cleanliness issue in the city, the court remarked: “Who would remove if a billboard fell down as no one would come to collect the garbage?” The court ordered all stakeholders to submit report in the next hearing.

  1. Much needed for Karachi. However, I doubt it that this order will be implemented. Chief Secretary Sindh continues to DEFY the orders of our honorable Supreme Court by not Promoting the cadre officers and also retaining the same officers on the same posts as against the orders. It gives a bad image to our political leadership. We hope Chief Miinister should also sack the CS immediately as there are many instances where the orders of not promoting the non cadre officers are not being implemented and honorable courts orders are being defied.
