Intermittent rains to continue till Sunday

Heavy to light rains intermittently continued for the second day in Balochistan, Punjab, KPK and Northwestern upper parts, with Balochistan the worst affected.

Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) says the late-winter wet spell is likely to persist till Sunday.

“A low pressure area lies over north Balochistan and its adjoining areas. Westerly wave is affecting upper and central parts of the country and likely to persist till Sunday,” PMD said.

Over the past several days, Balochistan has been reeling from crippling rain. Heavy floods in seasonal nullahs have the road network as days long rainfall crippled life in the province.

Widespread rain-thundershower accompanied by strong gusty winds is expected in Kashmir, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Islamabad, FATA, upper Punjab, (Sargodha, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore, Faisalabad, Sahiwal divisions), South Punjab (D.G khan, Bahawalpur, Multan divisions), north east Balochistan (Quetta, Zhob,  Sibbi and Naseerabad divisions), Sindh, Gilgit-Baltistan and Makran divisions.

PMD said scattered heavy downpour is expected in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (Malakand, Hazara, Peshawar, Mardan divisions) and Rawalpindi, D.G khan Gujranwala, and Lahore divisions.

Weather warning:

Heavy downpours may generate urban/flash flooding in KP, FATA, DG Khan, Gujranwala, Rawalpindi divisions and Kashmir on Friday (evening/night) and Saturday.
