In a major achievement in the Badaber airbase attack probe, the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) on Thursday arrested a key woman suspect for facilitating 14 attackers.

According to the CTD spokesperson, security personnel raided a house in Tela Band area of Badaber near Peshawar after getting intelligence-based information and arrested the woman facilitator of the PAF base attack.

Identified as Zarri Zadgai alias Perveen, the suspect confessed to having provided shelter and chemicals to the attackers for making improvised explosive devices (IEDs). The facilitator has now been shifted to an undisclosed location for further investigation.

In September last year, Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) terrorists attacked the PAF airbase in Peshawar, killing at least 29 people, most of them soldiers, in a deadly assault following a major military offensive against them.

Up to 14 terrorists dressed in official uniforms had sneaked into the residential compound of the airbase, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement after the brazen attack.

A military spokesperson said that soldiers fought the attackers for several hours and killed them all. At least 29 people, including 23 air force personnel, three army men and three civilians had lost their lives in the attack.
