Real change not possible without elimination of corruption: Khattak

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Pervez Khattak has underlined the need for reforms, strengthening of institutions and elimination of corruption as indispensible for translating the agenda of change into reality and for providing relief to the common man.

He expressed these views while addressing as chief guest at the ground breaking ceremony of improvement and widening of GT Jamrud Road in Peshawar today. Provincial ministers, parliamentarians and high ranking government officers attended the ceremony.

Minster for Local Government InayatUllah Khan and DG PDA Muhammad Saleem Watto also addressed the ceremony.

The CM formally laid foundation stone of the project on the occasion lauding the vision and efforts of local government minister for the development and beautification of Peshawar. While addressing the ceremony, the chief minister stressed the need of collective vision, judicious use of national resources and quality of development work to achieve the goal of national development and prosperity. He regretted that the nation was facing problems due to the misuse of resources in the past.

The chief minister said provision of better health and educational facilities were a must for development and real change. He said rectification of the system was not possible without putting an end to political interference in the affairs. He asked the elected representatives to abstain from interference and play their role in ensuring merit and provision of justice to the people. He also requested the masses to play their active role in identification of wrong doers in the society.

Referring to the steps being taken for the uplift of the provincial metropolis, the CM said that record developmental works had been done in short span of time. He elaborated that the provincial government was interested in projects, which apart from developmental, was also capable of generating income.

While commenting on the improvement of the GT Jamurd road project, the CM said that the project was initiated to make the road feasible for introduction of hundred latest air-conditioned buses this year.
