ATC indicts 26 Nine Zero suspects in illegal weapons case

An anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Wednesday indicted 26 workers of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) in illegal weapons’ recovery case as they were arrested during 2015 raid of Rangers on the party headquarters Nine Zero.

The accused were produced in the especial court in Karachi where a charge-sheet was presented against them; however, the accused pleaded not guilty. The charge-sheet included various charges including possession of arms and explosives. The accused are facing at least 50 different cases.

MQM’s Faisal Mota, Ubaid K2, Nadir Shah, Noman and Farhan Shabbir, who have been convicted in various cases, were also among those produced in the court.

After the charge-sheeting, the judge adjourned the case till March 17, directing authorities to come up with evidences in the next hearing. It may be added that on March, 11, 2015, Rangers raided Nine Zero and Khurshid Begum Memorial Hall in Azizabad area in Karachi, arresting a number of party workers including member of MQM’s Rabita Committee Amir Khan. The paramilitary troops, during the raid, recovered 124 weapons including LMGs, SMGs, M-4, G3s, repeaters and pistols.
