Woman strangles son after brawl with husband

LAHORE – A six-year-old child was strangled by her mother after she had a scuffle with her husband over a monetary dispute in the Sabzazar Police Station precincts on Tuesday.
The deceased was identified as Usman, a resident of Jamil Town. Police have registered a case on complaint of the victim’s father against the accused mother Najma. Police said that the father of the child married Najma six years ago but married for the second time few months ago on which relations between Najma and her husband had worsened. Najma started quarreling with her husband over financial matters and on Tuesday, after quarreling with her husband again, she strangled her child. Police have arrested Najma and she has confessed her crime.
Separately, a speeding police van crushed a school girl near Police Lines on Empress Road in the Gujjarpura Police Station precincts. According to details, victim Sakneeza, 6, was the daughter of Wasim Masih, who works as a sweeper in Police Lines. On Tuesday, she was going to her school when a police van bearing registration number LHR-9704 crushed her.
As a result, the girl was severely injured and rushed to a local hospital where she succumbed to her injuries. Police arrested the van driver and have registered a case against the driver of the van under Section 320 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) on complaint of deceased’s father.
Also on Tuesday, a man committed suicide due to financial problems in the Ghaziabad Police Station precincts. The victim was identified as Muhammad Aamir, son of Maqbool and a resident of Bhaati Chowk. Police said that that the victim was had defaulted on a loan due to which he shot himself with a pistol in his house. Police handed over the body to its heirs after completing legal formalities.
Four people were injured when a drum containing fuel exploded in a leather factory in Rachna Town. The injured were identified as Tanveer, 20, Iqbal, 22, and Ahsan, 16. They were admitted to Mayo Hospital where their condition was stated to be stable.
Valuables worth thousands of rupees were reduced to ashes when fire broke out due to short-circuiting in a house owned by Ghulam Rasool in Shahid Town near Ghazi Road. Fire fighters rushed to the spot and extinguished the fire after hectic efforts.
