Renowned director Syed Noor stepped back from his allegations and apologised to Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy.

The director said he did not level any accusation against the Oscar winner, clarifying that his statement was twisted.

I am very sorry if you were hurt, he added.

It should be mentioned here that Chinoy, 37, made history as the sole Pakistani national to win two Oscars.

Sharmeen made the film, A Girl in the River – The Price of Forgiveness. The film brings into the spotlight the issue of honour killings in Pakistan with the story of an 18-year-old woman, Saba.

The ill-fated teenager was shot by her relatives to redeem their family honour. Her body was dumped into a river. The girl miraculously survived to tell her story.

Syed Noor alleged that Chinoy not only stole the central idea but also the name and script from a film he made about two years ago.

Denying the allegations, the Oscars winner replied that she respected Syed Noor adding a fiction movie cannot be copied into a documentary film.
