X Factor ratings could go through the roof if judge Cheryl Fernandez-Versini is joined by her new boyfriend Liam Payne.
According to the Daily Star, The ITV show’s boss, Simon Cowell, was tipped by bookies to sign up the One Direction star to join the panel alongside the brunette beauty in a bid to ramp up the ratings.
Cheryl and Liam, could be teaming up for their first project together, although former judge Louis Walsh has already suggested the pair should team up in the recording booth too.They could be set for a ‘Kylie and Jason’ moment, as music boss Louis has praised Liam’s songwriting skills.
“I think Liam is really talented. He’s a great songwriter. I think Liam will be good for Cheryl,” Louis said, before comparing him to former X Factor judge Gary Barlow.
Meanwhile, Jessica Bridge from Ladbrokes, said: “If Simon wants ratings to rocket then he needs to sign up Cheryl and Liam as judges.”
Speaking to Mirror Celebs at the BRIT Awards in February, Louis described being a judge on X Factor as “exciting” as he rumoured to replace Nick Grimshaw.
The 1D star even plans to pit his band mates against each other for a chance to be a mentor at judges’ houses with him.
He said: “Of course it’s really exciting. We’ve had no official conversation yet, but yeah, I mean why wouldn’t I?
“I’d have to condition Liam against the other boys if I took him to judges’ houses. But I don’t know if he’ll beat Niall in the running.”
Liam Payne added: “Yes, I’ll help him. He needs all the help he can get.”
